The Plough Inn - Foston-on-the-Wolds

Gordon and Jeannette regret to advise that from 1 July 2008 the Plough Inn will be closing for business. However the caravan CL site will remain open as usual

The general downturn in spending in the hospitality sector (partly due to the availability of cheap supermarket booze), the significant increases in fuel, utility and running costs (with further rises to come), the recently introduced smoking ban, a noticeable increased awareness in drinking/driving together with the pub’s “out of the way location”, etc. have all contributed to the regrettable closure of the Plough Inn. Although we have managed to keep the pub going over the last couple of years, we have had to increasingly support the business from our savings – the time has come to say enough is enough before the bailiffs bang on the door!!!

We would like to thank all our customers, both local and the many from further afield, for their much appreciated support. As you are no doubt aware, we have made every effort to produce food of the highest quality at sensible prices together with fine ales and good wines served in a warm and friendly pub atmosphere. Our approach seems to have worked as our reputation appears to have spread throughout the area - but sadly reputation alone does not pay the bills.
